Project Overview
Valley View Manor is an 80-unit seniors lodge in Rimbey, Alberta, providing affordable housing and support for seniors who are able to live independently or with community-based assistance.
Radiance Energy conducted an in-depth energy audit and identified an opportunity to replace outdated compact fluorescent lighting with a more efficient LED solution. The project focused on reducing operating costs while improving lighting quality in a residential environment where visibility and comfort are especially important.
The Challenge
The facility relied on aging CFL lighting that consumed excessive energy and required frequent maintenance. Rising electricity costs were increasing operational expenses, while the existing lighting quality was not optimal for residents.
For a seniors housing environment, the upgrade needed to improve efficiency without compromising comfort, visibility, or day-to-day functionality.
The Solution
Radiance Energy completed an energy audit and developed a full LED retrofit using 5-inch, 15W LED retrofit kits to replace existing 18W CFL 4-pin wall sconces.
The new system reduced electricity consumption while providing a consistent 4000K colour temperature, improved lighting quality, and longer fixture life with lower maintenance requirements.
