Project Overview

Canlan Romeoville is a multi-purpose sports complex in Illinois featuring three NHL-sized ice rinks along with event, retail, concession, and support spaces.

Radiance Energy was selected to retrofit lighting across the three ice rinks, main lobby, gallery, and locker rooms, with a focus on reducing energy use, improving illumination, and lowering long-term operating costs.

The Challenge

The existing lighting system was inefficient and required significant maintenance, creating unnecessary operating costs while limiting overall lighting quality.
Canlan needed a modern solution that could improve brightness and consistency across large ice surfaces and supporting spaces while reducing both electricity consumption and maintenance demands.

The Solution

Radiance Energy implemented a high-efficiency LED retrofit using LED high-bay and flat-panel fixtures combined with a wireless central lighting control system.

The upgraded system improved lighting uniformity and reduced shadows across the facility while giving Canlan greater control over lighting operation and energy use.

Smarter Lighting Across a Three-Rink Complex

Multi-rink sports facilities require high-output lighting across large playing surfaces while operating for long hours throughout the week.
At Canlan Romeoville, combining high-efficiency LED fixtures with centralized wireless controls created a more consistent and manageable lighting system. The retrofit reduced operating costs while improving visibility for players, spectators, and facility staff.
