Winnipeg, MBProject Overview
Canlan Winnipeg is a multi-purpose recreation and entertainment complex featuring three NHL-sized ice rinks, an indoor turf field, event space, a sports shop, and a full-service restaurant.
Radiance Energy was selected to modernize lighting across rink and support areas, including the main lobby, offices, pro shop, and stairwells. The project focused on reducing energy consumption while improving lighting quality and long-term maintenance performance.
The Challenge
The existing lighting system was consuming excessive energy and delivering inconsistent lighting quality across the facility.
Canlan needed a modern lighting solution that could reduce operating costs while improving visibility and creating a more consistent experience for athletes, patrons, and staff.
The Solution
Radiance Energy installed high-efficiency Linmore LED high-bay fixtures with integrated controls, along with 11W T8 LED tubes across supporting spaces.
The upgraded lighting reduced energy use, lowered maintenance requirements, and improved visibility while reducing glare in areas used by athletes and facility visitors.

Better Lighting Across a Multi-Sport Facility
High-use sports complexes need lighting systems that perform consistently across large playing surfaces, circulation areas, and support spaces while operating for long hours.
At Canlan Winnipeg, the retrofit improved lighting quality and visibility while significantly reducing the energy and maintenance costs associated with the existing system. The result was a more efficient and dependable lighting environment for both athletes and facility operations.
