Project Overview

Wesgar is a precision sheet metal manufacturer based in Port Coquitlam, BC, with integrated capabilities spanning fabrication, machining, welding, finishing, and assembly.
Radiance Energy conducted a detailed audit of Wesgar’s manufacturing and office areas and identified significant opportunities to improve light levels, visibility, energy efficiency, and maintenance performance.

The Challenge

Lighting conditions across the facility were inconsistent, with poor visibility, low light levels, high flicker rates, and ongoing maintenance requirements.
For a precision-manufacturing environment, the existing system did not provide the level of illumination needed to support detailed industrial work and a safer, more comfortable workplace.

The Solution

Radiance Energy replaced existing metal-halide fixtures in the warehouse areas with high-efficiency LED high-bay lighting and controls.

In the office areas, fluorescent tube fixtures were replaced with LED flat panels to improve light quality and reduce energy consumption.

The retrofit was designed around the different requirements of Wesgar’s industrial and office spaces, creating a more consistent lighting environment across the facility.

Project Results

  • 77% savings in energy and maintenance costs
  • Up to 300% increase in brightness and visibility
  • Improved lighting quality across manufacturing and office areas
  • Reduced maintenance requirements
  • 10-year manufacturer warranty
  • 20-year life expectancy

Precision Manufacturing Needs Precision Lighting

Manufacturing environments built around detailed fabrication and assembly require lighting that supports visibility, accuracy, and safe movement across large production spaces.
At Wesgar, the retrofit improved both the quantity and quality of light while significantly reducing operating and maintenance costs. The result was a brighter, more efficient lighting system better suited to the demands of precision manufacturing.
